Joseph G. Louden, MD is board certified in general cardiology and echocardiography. He has a special interest in sports cardiology and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and manages a wide range of cardiac illnesses.
Prior to joining Virginia Heart, Dr. Louden served as an active duty Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army. During his 15 year tenure, he was a Brigade Surgeon in the 82nd Airborne, a hospitalist at Walter Reed Military Medical Center prior to his cardiology fellowship, and most recently the Chief of Cardiology at Evans Army Hospital in Ft. Carson, Colorado.
Dr. Louden became interested in cardiology because of the profound impact cardiac illness can have on patients of all ages. Today, as a cardiologist, his goal is to empower patients to lower their risk of preventable disease, and improve the lives of patients with cardiac illness already present.
Dr. Louden enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities and sports with his wife and 3 children.
