Paula Pinell-Salles ,

Paula Pinell-Salles, M.D., F.A.C.C., specializes in general cardiology, vascular medicine and women’s heart health. She is board certified in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. “I have a special interest in women’s heart health, in primary prevention and the care of complex, advanced heart disease,” she said. Although raised and trained in the U.S., Dr. Pinell-Salles worked extensively in public health abroad. She is fluent in Spanish and enjoys the privilege of caring for a large population of patients who are most comfortable speaking in Spanish. “I relish the opportunity to get to know my patients well and am heartened by the awesome responsibility that comes with their trust as they refer their own family and friends,” she added.  

Dr. Pinell-Salles earned her medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine and pursued her residency in Internal Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She then completed her fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Maryland Medical Center.

Dr. Pinell-Salles and her husband have four young children. An admitted die-hard Barcelona FC soccer fan, she is happiest on the sidelines cheering her own soccer stars. She also likes to travel whenever possible to visit extended family in Bolivia and Peru.
